Newlyn Heritage Blend

Oswestry-based housing developers, Pickstock Homes, got in contact with our team looking for a supplier for half the bricks on their new-build development. The project would be a 50/50 split with another brick. The rural development would be known as Kings Moat on Holberton Way and would be located in Baschurch near Shrewsbury.

Pickstock Homes were looking for a brick that would pass the planning process, which meant that it needed to look similar to other sites in the surrounding area. Development on this project moved forward with our 65mm Newlyn Heritage Blend. This is a Hand form, Handmade brick that is red with white and dark shades. The variety in colour is much more consistent throughout each brick allowing for stunning results on the final build. They were used across half of the houses on the site, as 3 and 4 bedroom houses.

Within the context of the Kings Moat Shrewsbury case study, Pickstock Homes demonstrated their dedication by integrating small social housing units into the development. Additionally, they effectively highlighted the government’s “Help to Buy” scheme on their website as a pivotal aspect. The scheme encourages young people to take the steps to buy their own home with help from a government loan. This decision aligns with our mission. We recognise the importance of working to provide social housing to address the current housing crisis. Our team are legislative aware and we are always looking to work on developments that contribute to this necessary scheme.

With the Kings Moat Shrewsbury estate being recently completed, we can definitively say that the project looks incredible. The Newlyn blend was the correct choice for the houses and compliments the various other features found on them. The roof tiles, window frames and doors all work together uniquely, delivering the desired results of what was planned.
