Developer

Rothwell Farm in Goldbourne was chosen by housing developer Taylor Wimpey as the location for a large, new housing estate that began development in 2021. Due to the brick shortages brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the many homes built as a part of the project would all make use of different types of bricks from a variety or different manufacturers and distributors. We put forward our 65mm Rothwell Blend, which Taylor Wimpey liked, and development moved forward.

The Rothwell Blend is a terrific brick for a project like this one, as it provides the house with a very timeless and traditional look that can be found throughout the UK. What makes it special however, is that it is surrounded by other houses that utilise different materials. This gives the brick a stand-out quality, and helps it to appear unlike any of the other houses build on the development. The brick its self features a blend of colours, with a majority having a classic brick-red colour, but occasionally finds itself fading into darker, more burnt shades.

This project is the perfect example of a housing developer dipping their toes into something new. Rather than relying on one solid look as their approch to construction, they have shown their versitility buy building houses that feel like they cover a range of aesthetic choices. They’ve gone down the route of showcasing a diverse array of colours and styles for their project, and Manchester Brick can’t help but applaud them for it. We always aim to offer our support to developers through our work, so being able to provide Taylor Wimpey with our bricks, so they can do things differently, was all we could ask for on a project like this.

Once the project was complete, the house built using our bricks, was something everyone involved should be proud of. Despite the entire project utilising different types of bricks, with every house looking different, they are all still cohesive in one way.

They feel like home.

Rothwell Farms case study

This brick I wanted is seen across London and the South East and has a history dating back 300 years, meaning I had a match for the historical context of the build.
